Central Festival Group Community Care Team Mountmellick are holding a new festival launching from over two days March 16 and March 17.
They started this journey four years ago after hearing their local national celebration / parade was cancelled.
Since then its been a long journey to get to where they are today, they have had lots of bumps in the road but they have never let that stop them from delivering for their entire community and surrounding areas.
They will continue to do all they can to continue to grow, develop and add to the event with the long term aim of making the event the premiere National celebration in the midlands .
Almost the entire event costs year on year is fundraised by the team through bucket collections sponsorship and wristband sales.
In Mountmellick the small local businesses are the backbone of the event and without their support year on year none of this would be possible.
A two day event, day one sees a host of local schools groups / clubs traditional musicians and special guests on main stage in O’Connell square.
This year an all new street market to our event with various traders attending over the course of the event has been added.
Also this year an all new sheltered seating area with chairs and tables have been added.
There is free tea coffee available for all elderly citizens. They have once again planned the event to allow sufficient wheelchair access and inclusion of all attending our event.
Day two, the main day of celebration sees a jam packed day of entertainment and activities:
Just some include the biggest inflatable play area they have ever had, amusements, carnival in town, giant games, complete circus show, Disney characters, Elvis tribute, dancing, farmyard petting with alpacas, face painting / hair braiding, activity trailer and much more.
The parade begins at Turleys at 2pm on March 17.
Flag raising ceremony and performance of the national anthem takes place during the parade.
