Moment In Time: Heywood CS victorious at student Enterprise Awards 2009

Laois County Enterprise Board held the annual Student Enterprise Awards in the Kyle Centre Portlaoise on March 5 2009.

Secondary school students competed to represent Laois in the National Student Enterprise Finals.

The three schools that reached the Laois County Finals were Heywood Community School, Ballinakill, Scoil Chríost Rí, Portlaoise and Clonaslee Secondary School.

Students brainstormed to create feasible business ideas, and then endeavoured to turn their ideas into a profitable business.

Heywood Community School were the victors for their business venture ‘Student Grub’, a quick and easy cooking guide created by students for students.

‘Sound Chicks’ from Scoil Chríost Rí were announced runners up for their brilliant organising of Blast Beat in Portlaoise.

Best Display was awarded to ‘Fáistineach’ from Scoil Chríost Rí.

The girls from Heywood Community School went on to represent Laois in the National Student Enterprise Awards in Tullamore on May 14 2009.

All students who reached the County Final were presented with a Student Enterprise Certificate by Maria Callinan, CEO of Laois County Enterprise Board at the time.
