The latest LaoisToday Talking Sport podcast is an eclectic mix of sport – hurling, football, camogie, ladies football, rugby, soccer, Australian Rules and even a few political and Love Island references thrown in.
Presenter Steven Miller and Alan Hartnett are joined this week by a live audience (of TY work experience student Daniel Bowe from Durrow) to look ahead to this weekend’s action.
The Allianz Football League Division 2 clash between Laois and Cavan in MW Hire O’Moore Park is the big game of the weekend but there is a significant curtain raiser also involving the Laois ladies football team who face Longford in a must-win Division 3 league clash.
The Laois camogie team – who are back on track after threatening not to field an adult team at all – also begin their league campaign at home to Antrim.
But we also have some news from the transfer market! There have been big signings for The Harps and Ballyfin no less as well as some managerial news from around the clubs.
And we look at the local soccer scene as we remember some of the teams that have come and gone over the years. Spink Celtic, Raheen, Ballyroan, Emo Celtic, Wolfhill and two teams in Ballybrittas are all mentioned.
As is local rugby, schools rugby and a couple of questions from our listeners.
Including a really good one from Josh Finn, asking us who the best Laois sports person of the last decade is!
