Clonad GAA hosted the first Laois Pumpkin Patch event over the Sunday and Monday of the October bank holiday weekend and it proved to be a great success.
People came from all over Leinster and even further to attend the event.
Nearly 1,000 pumpkins were sold over the two days with proceeds going to the Clonad juvenile club and CRG camogie club.
There were helpers on hand to assist people if they wanted to have their scary or happy faces carved onto their pumpkins before they got home.
There was much more than just pumpkins to attract people to the event with plenty of activities to keep the children entertained such as smash the pumpkin with a hurl and sliotar, building their own scarecrow and trying to find their way through the haunted maze.
Hot drinks and homemade goods were available to keep everyone warm over a chilly but sunny couple of days.
A few extra seeds may need to be sown next year given the demand and interest in the event this year in what the club hopes will become an annual event.
The club also donated some biscuits and cakes to PATH following the Pumpkin Patch event.
They said: “Huge thanks to Clonad. They had a fantastic Pumpkin Patch event these last two days and have kindly donated cakes and biscuits to us for our outreach service.”
Next event for Clonad is upcoming on November 23 with a race night being hosted in Kavanagh’s Pub in Portlaoise.
