We’ve barely caught our breath after the 2019 Electric Picnic and we are already bracing ourselves to get tickets for next year’s installment.
The 16th Electric Picnic will take part in just under 12 months time and tickets for the event will go on sale on Saturday morning.
Electric Picnic 2019 saw over 300 acts perform across a multitude of stages, with musical highlights over the course of the weekend with almost 60,000 people passing through the gates.
On Friday, Billie Eilish, Hozier and Dermot Kennedy were among the big acts on the main stage while local singer Curtis Walsh also performws in the Three made by Music area while the locally organised Golden Egg Holistic Sound Meditation was among the early evening attractions in the Body and Soul area.
Then on Saturday, Years & Years, Gerry Cinnamon, The Strokes and The 1975 were among the top acts on the bill that evening.
While on Sunday, Kodaline and Jess Glynne stole the show before Florence and The Machine brought the house down with the final performance on the main stage of the weekend.
Festival goers who have attended previous Electric Picnics can avail of cheaper tickets but once again there is expected to be a mad scramble, just as there was 12 months ago.
There was considerable anger last year when tickets sold out in record time leaving many who queued for hours empty handed.
So in a bid to make it a fairer system for all, Colgan’s in Portlaoise, who are the only Ticketmaster outlet in Laois have put a strict policy in place.
They will only sell two tickets per person – presumably in a bid to see as many people as possible get tickets on Saturday.
Will everyone be happy come Saturday afternoon? Probably not – but hopefully this will help.
