The Planning Authorities at Laois County Council have received a number of recent applications for commercial developments across the county.
East Laois Solar Farm Ltd are seeking to make numerous changes to their solar farm at Coolnabacky, Stradbally, which was originally given the green light in 2018.
They are seeking to increase the maximum export capacity of the solar farm to 80MW and to increase the operational life of the solar farm from 30 to 40 years.
Other changes consist of the following:
- Revised solar PV panel arrangement;
- A maximum height of panels up to 3.2 metres;
- Reconfigured internal access route network;
- Reduced number of MV transformers;
- Provision of string inverters;
- A revised CCTV arrangement;
- Addition of a spare parts storage container, weather stations, a monitoring house, and additional toilet facilities.
A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application.
Bluebell Edge Ltd are planning a significant project in Lismard Business Park, Portlaoise, with a decision expected at the end of May.
The development would see the construction of a trade and retail warehouse facility, as well as a sheltered outdoor garden centre display area, office and staff welfare areas and mezzanines at floor levels.
Ancillary works include the provision of surface car parking and service areas, rooftop PV panels, fascia signage and bicycle parking facilities. Access to the proposed development will be provided via the internal road network of the Business Park.
Irish Vintage Engine and Tractor Association are seeking planning permission for a project at The Swallow Quarter’s, Donaghmore, with a decision expected in early June.
The application is to complete a building within a complex of Protected Mill Structures which is to be used for display of Heritage Goods as part of Donaghmore Museum.
InstaVolt Europe Ltd have submitted an application to the Planning Authorities to instal four electric vehicle (EV) chargers at Portlaoise Retail Park, New Road, Portlaoise.
