David Griffin
Dr Murphy Place, Portlaoise, Laois/Carlow Town, Carlow

David Griffin (Griff) Dr. Murphy Place Portlaoise and formerly of Idrone Park Carlow, at the Beacon Hospital, Dublin, surrounded by his loving family, following a long illness bravely borne.

Devoted father to Sean and Melanie. Dearly loved son of Michael and Elizabeth, deeply regretted by his heartbroken children, parents, brother Michael and Kevin, grandmother Edna, sister in law Marion & Kevin’s partner Louise. Michael Snr’s wife Mag, Uncles, Aunts. David’s partner Gillian and his children’s mother Dana. Relatives, and all his friends and colleague’s in The Irish Prison Service.

Reposing at Keegans funeral home, Portlaoise on Sunday afternoon from 2pm – 6pm.

Removal on Monday to arrive at Newlands crematorium for 2.30pm via the Midlands Prison.

Funeral is being conducted in respect of David’s wishes.

Michael Early
Stradbally Rd, Portlaoise, Laois

Michael Early (Stradbally Road, Portlaoise, Co Laois). Died 22nd April 2025 suddenly at his home.

Son of the late Michael and Mary Brigid Early. Loving brother to John Early, Margaret Owens & Marie McLoughlin.

Predeceased by his brother Denis Early and brother-in-law Séan Owens.

Sadly missed by sisters-in-law Mary and Cheryl Early, brother-in-law John McLoughlin, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Keegans Funeral home- 1 Dublin Rd, (Eircode R32 Y368) on Sunday 27th of April from 7pm until 9pm with Rosary at 8pm.

Removal on Monday 28th of April to arrive at SS Peter and Pauls Church for 11am requiem mass.

Noel Mooney
Tinweir, Durrow, Laois/Kilkenny

Noel late of Tinweir, Durrow, Co Laois passed away peacefully in the wonderful care of the staff of Castlecomer, District Hospital, Co Kilkenny while surrounded by his loving family.

Noel is predeceased by his parents Kieran and Chris and his infant sister Rita. He will be sadly missed and is deeply regretted by his sisters Mary, Miriam, Lilly and Deirdre, his brother Pat, Kieran and Bill, his sisters in law Helen, Kathleen and Eleanor, his brothers in law Brian and Liam, his cherished nieces and nephews, his extended family and a large circle of friends.

Noel will repose in Durrow funeral home (R32 E163) on Friday 25th April 2025 from 3 – 7pm with removal to the Church of the Assumption, Ballyouskill, Co. Kilkenny (R32 DH56) for reception prayers at 7.30pm. Requiem Mass at 11am on Saturday 26th April 2025 in the Church of the Assumption, Ballyouskill with burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

John (Jack) Cussen
Derryguile, Mountmellick, Laois

John (better known as Jack) Cussen Derryguile, Mountmellick died April 24th 2025 peacefully at The Regional Hospital Tullamore surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen. Predeceased by his sister Eileen Hurley (Cloneyquin Portarlington). Deeply regretted by his loving family Pat, Dan, Sean and Mary Therese, nephew Padraic, nieces Maura and Deirdre, daughter -in-law Pamela, brother -in-law Joe, neighbours, relatives and his many friends.

Reposing in Dan and Pamela’s house (R32EF83) on Friday from 5pm Recital of The Rosary at 7.30pm. Removal to St. Joseph’s Church on Saturday for 11am Requiem Mass and burial after in St.Josephs Cemetery.

Phyllis Marum (née McEvoy)
Portlaoise, Portlaoise, Laois

Phyllis Marum (nee McEvoy) 171 St Brigids Place Portlaoise. Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her husband Billy and loving sister Jean. Beloved mother to Susan, Samantha, Sawnya, William, and Sabrina. Adored nanny to Evan, Dylan, Ciara, Aimee, Abbie, Jodie, Aaron, Tierna, and Lucy. Mother in law to Sandra, Michael, Donna, Olive, and Oweny. Sister of Mary, Davy, Esther, Michael, Thomas, Anthony, Geraldine and Noel. Visitors welcome on Thursday 24th April from 5 pm until 8 pm. House private at all other times. Special word of thanks to the Palliative Care team for their care and attention during the short illness. May she rest in peace. Removal on Friday morning to arrive at SS Peter and Pauls Church for 11 am requiem mass. Interment will take place immediately afterwards.

Thomas (Tom) Bergin
Garron, Ballybrophy, Laois

Thomas (Tom) Bergin, Garron, Ballybrophy, Co. Laois suddenly at home on Easter Sunday April 20th. 2025. Predeceased by his parents Paddy and Mai, his sister Mary and his brothers Mick and Sèan. Sadly missed by his sister Joan (Browne), his brothers Denis, Joe, Pat and Seamus, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, grand nieces , grand nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney (Eircode R32 NY24) on Thursday evening April 24th from 5.30 until 7.30. Removal on Friday morning April 25th to the Church of the Assumption, Killasmeestia arriving for Requiem Mass at 11 o’clock. Interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Celbridge, Kildare/Durrow, Laois

MOORE, Paddy (Celbridge, County Kildare, formerly of Kyle, Durrow, County Laois and late of Bord Bia) April 23rd, 2025 (peacefully) surrounded by his loving family in the wonderful care of the staff at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. Beloved husband of Nuala and much loved dad of Tom, Sarah, Michael and Patrick. Sadly missed by his loving wife and children, daughters-in-law Rose, Caroline and Emer, son-in-law Noel, grandchildren Ava, Jessica, Finn, Eoin, Cillian, Cian, Éanna, Tadhg and Paddy, brothers John, Billy, Thomas and Eugene, sister Maureen, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Reposing at his home in Ballyoulster, Celbridge on Thursday evening (April 24th) between 6pm and 8pm. Removal on Friday morning (April 25th) to St. Patrick’s Church, Celbridge arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by burial in Donacomper Cemetery.

Anne (Anastasia) Moore-Mathews (née Conroy)
Cardtown, Mountrath, Laois

The death has occurred on 21st April 2025 of Anne (Anastasia) Moore-Mathews, Cardtown, Mountrath in her 92nd year peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her 1st husband Dan (Moore) and her 2nd husband Alf (Mathews), her infant daughter Regina, her parents Bill and Mary-Anne (Conroy), brother John (Conroy), sisters Nellie (Ryan), Bernadette (Moorehead) and her daughter-in-law Caroline.

Deeply regretted by her adoring children Sr. Kathleen, Finbarr, Willie, Veronica, Donal, Terry and Aidan, daughters-in-law Mary, Marie, Angela and Elena, sons-in-law Pat and Noel, her 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Mary (Dunne), nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her home Cardtown (eircode R32T9D7) on Wednesday and Thursday evenings (23rd and 24th April) from 4.0’clock, concluding with Rosary at 8.0’clock each evening. Removal on Friday afternoon (25th April) to St. Fergal’s Church Camross (eircode R32VY79), for Requiem Mass at 1.0’clock, followed by Burial in the adjoining Cemetery.

Bruce Walter MacDonald
Great Falls, Virginia, USA and Ormsby House, Durrow, Laois/Glengarriff, Cork

On December 8th, 2024, BRUCE, died unexpectedly but peacefully in Great Falls, Virginia. Predeceased by his brother, Lloyd, sister, Marcia and parents, Charles and Ruth of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Bruce is deeply mourned by his devoted wife, Rita Campion, his siblings, Charles and Charlene, aunt, Bonnie, sister-in-law, Linda, Bruce’s Campion brothers and sisters-in-law, Canon Michael, Miriam (John), Tadhg (Colleen) and Constance (Awwad), loving nieces and nephews, special cousins, extended family and many dear and wonderful friends and colleagues.

Reception prayers at 5.30pm on Friday, April 25th at Saint Joseph’s Church, Coomhola, Bantry, Co. Cork, P75 XO43. Requiem Mass at 2.30pm on Saturday, April 26th at Coomhola followed by burial at Saint James Churchyard, Durrus, Co. Cork, P75 R295.
