Portlaoise TradFest returns bringing Irish music to Laois once again

A weekend filled with the very best in traditional Irish music returns with Portlaoise TradFest 2025 from Friday, May 2, to Sunday, May 4.

This highly anticipated festival will bring a host of renowned artists, lively sessions, enriching workshops and engaging events to the vibrant town of Portlaoise, celebrating Ireland’s rich musical heritage.

The legendary Dervish have been announced to headline the Dunamaise Arts Centre at 8pm on the Friday, delivering their spellbinding blend of traditional music and song to an eager audience.

Meanwhile, Scullion and Ye Vagabonds, two of Ireland’s most exciting contemporary folk acts, will take to the stage at Kavanagh’s Courtyard, ensuring a memorable experience for festival-goers.

Beyond the stellar performances, Portlaoise Trad Fest 2025 will offer an unparalleled program of events, including:

  • Over 30 lively sessions across town pubs and venues in both music and song;
  • Nine immersive music workshops led by top traditional musicians;
  • A special CD launch by accomplished Laois Pianist David Vesey;
  • Youth and adult sessions, fostering participation for all ages;
  • A Youth Battle of the Bands, showcasing emerging talent from Laois and beyond;
  • Festival club Trisco in Manhattan Mixer with DJ Jim Bán and DJ Hot Whiskey.

Hosting the festival is Caitríona Sherlock, acclaimed singer and three-time All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil winner.

Sherlock will be engaging with artists and audiences alike through interviews, singing sessions, and special appearances throughout the weekend.
