The 15th annual Tri Laois organised by the local Trilogy Triathlon Club is set to take place on Saturday April 12.
Registration will be open at Portlaoise Leisure Centre from 6.30pm on Friday evening and again from 7am on Saturday morning.
Trilogy Triathlon Club is also celebrating its 21st year in existence.
There are two options for the athletes – the sprint distance of a 750m swim, a 22.5km cycle and a 5km run or the Try-a-Tri of a shorter 400m swim and the same distance cycle and run.
The bike route will leave Portlaoise Leisure Centre towards the Borris Road, Rathevan, Ballydavis and will turn around at New Inn roundabout and back the same route.
Trilogy asks all road users to be vigilant of additional cyclists on this route from 8am to 2pm on the day.
The run route will be a 2.5km out and back the Ridge Road.
Trilogy also asks all road users to be aware of extra people running on the Ridge road between 9am and 2pm.
The main race sponsor is Joe Mallon Motors who each year supplies the lead car and will have a prominent display of Renault Cars at the finish line.
A spokesperson said: “We wish to thank all our sponsors for this event, for their continued support year on year.
“Participants will receive a goodie bag including a Race T-Shirt and Finishers Medal.
“Athletes come from all over the country, with 25 counties represented for this year’s event which is incredibly popular and always draws a high number of spectators.”
