There was a double celebration in Treacy’s of The Heath last Friday for two staff members who started their careers at the iconic establishment in 1996.
The locals gathered in the bar to have a drink with Colm Dunne for a change to celebrate him recently winning the Employee Excellence Award at the Irish Restaurant Awards.
“Anyone who knows Treacy’s knows Colm,” said Niall Treacy.
“He has been serving up pints and grub since 1996. Not only has he been fantastic to all our customers but also a mentor to many young people who got their first jobs here at Treacy’s and also a close family friend.
“His almost 30-year career here at Treacy’s have been something to behold.
“Loved by the locals and passers by alike, the Offaly man really does show off the best Irish hospitality has to offer.
“Amazed by the response on our social media Colm wrote ‘we get to where we arrive at in life because of the love and support of the people around us’
“‘Achievement and recognition for what we choose to do in our lives isn’t individual – family, friends and colleagues are the bedrock of all our efforts.
“None of us could do what we do without our nearest and dearest. I appreciate all the lovely comments with a touch of humility. Thanks to you all.”
Trish O’Keeffe celebrated a milestone birthday recently and “we couldn’t let the occasion pass without a dinner out and then a surprise party back at Treacy’s for her,” added Niall Treacy.
“Trish would be lesser known to many with her role in the kitchen but would be well known to the locals and also has a long career with us, a permanent fixture in the kitchen since 1996.
“A proud Monasterevin woman (which she brings up any time Kildare beat Laois), Trish loves to have the banter with everyone and always has a kind word and a bit of fun.
“Trish’s work ethic, personality and character is something to be applauded and we are extremely proud of her and all she has done for the business and family over the years.
“We are very lucky and great full to have such great people working with us here at Treacy’s.”
