In Pictures: Daffodil Day a huge success as Holy Family Senior School host fundraiser

A fantastic morning was spent in the Nano Nagle Hall on the Holy Family Schools Campus in Portlaoise on Friday March 28 to mark Daffodil Day and raise much needed funds for the Irish Cancer society.

It was a great success from start to finish with the sun making several appearances to add to the yellow theme.

There was face painting, a visit and exhibition from Sergeant Orla Nolan and Garda Dan Sheehy of the Portlaoise Community policing unit as well as attendance from many groups from across our school community.

The largest single fund-raising activity of the Irish Cancer Society is the annual Daffodil Day. It is responsible for 20% of all income.

Principal Roisin Brennan thanked everyone for all of their help on making the day a huge success.

She said: “We wish to acknowledge the contribution of Portlaoise St. Vincent de Paul for their very generous donation of €500 to our daffodil day appeal.

“Thank you to Mr Billy Fitzpatrick of SVP for always being a great friend to our school.

“The pupils, staff, parents, grandparents and the general community ensured this inaugural Daffodil day coffee morning on the Holy Family Campus was a great success. Donations continue to come in.

“We hope to have raised close to €4,000. The total figure will be communicated through the schools social media accounts in due course.

“We look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come.”
