Laois Integration Network (LIN) are to hold their Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, April 3, in Laois Partnership Office at New Road, Portlaoise (R32VY22).

It is expected that a new Chair will be elected as Karen McHugh has announced that she will be stepping down from her role as the current Chair.

Other positions to be appointed on the night include Treasurer, Secretary and PRO.

Laois Integration Network was established in February 2016, initially under the auspices of Doras Syrian Resettlement Project.

Since June 2016, it has operated as an independent entity, consisting of community and statutory organisations, as well as individuals from Irish, migrant, and diverse faith communities across Laois.

The group was formed specifically to run a week-long programme of events to mark Social Inclusion Week in March 2016 and was initially named Portlaoise Social Inclusion Network.

Over the course of this week, the Network delivered more than 20 events throughout Laois.

Following the conclusion of this programme, the membership expressed unanimous support to continue meeting and working together to promote integration initiatives within the county.

It was agreed that the Network, which is broadly representative of the diversity of Laois, is well-placed to continue advancing these goals.

LIN’s current board is as follows:

  • Chairperson – Karen McHugh;
  • PRO’s – Pauline Flanagan and Emer Liston;
  • Treasures – Ruta Maciuliene and Kasjana Jatkowska.
