Portlaoise Institute hosted its highly anticipated Open Day on Wednesday, March 26, welcoming over 300 students and parents eager to explore the diverse range of courses available for September 2025.
The event provided attendees with a valuable opportunity to gain insights into student life, learn about the 60 full-time and part-time courses on offer, and discover the pathways to higher education and employment available at the institute.
Prospective students also had the chance to explore the Level 8 tertiary degree programmes in Software Development, IT Management, and Business, which offer exciting career prospects in high-demand industries.
Staff and current students were on hand throughout the day to answer questions, provide course demonstrations, and share their experiences, ensuring that visitors left with a comprehensive understanding of what Portlaoise Institute has to offer.
Speaking about the event, Principal Keith McClearn expressed his gratitude.
He said: “We would like to extend a thank you to the guidance counsellors from all the schools who attended and supported their students, along with the many parents who took the time to visit.
“Their involvement is invaluable in helping students make informed decisions about their future.
“For those interested in joining Portlaoise Institute, the first round of interviews will take place on April 8 and 9, and students hoping to receive an early offer are encouraged to submit their applications within the next week.
“A second round of interviews is scheduled for May, offering further opportunities for prospective students to secure a place.
