East Midlands Parkinson’s – the local Parkinson’s Ireland group for Laois and Kildare – will host “Walk in the Park for Parkinson’s” on Saturday April 5 in Colt GAA grounds at 11am.
This annual event will take place in various locations around Ireland on that day.
This will be the second year of the annual flagship fundraiser for Parkinsons Ireland.
This walk is to coincide with Parkinson’s Awareness week.
A spokesperson said: “Funds raised on the day will help provide weekly therapy classes which take place in the Parish Centres in Portlaoise and Newbridge.
“No walk too long or too short whatever distance you feel comfortable with is fine.
“Refreshments for all after the walk in Doogue’s Bar Raheen. All support would be greatly appreciated.
“Participation contributes to raising awareness about Parkinson’s and promoting better care and support for those living with this disease and their families.
“To register online visit www.parkinsons.ie or alternatively you can come along on the day and make a donation.”
East Midlands Parkinson’s are also hosting a meeting for all people with Parkinson’s and their carers, on Saturday March 29 at 2pm in the Community Centre Monasterevin, W34FH24.
This meeting is open to all persons with Parkinson’s and carers or family members from Laois and Kildare.
