JOB VACANCY: Joe Mallon Motors seeking to fill technician role

Joe Mallon Motors have a great opportunity for a Fully Qualified Service Technician or a 3rd/4th Year Apprentice Technician to join our team at our Portlaoise dealership.

Experienced mechanics should have dealer experience. Formal skills training with a recognised automotive organisation is essential.

Experienced technicians should be skilled in all aspects of vehicle repairs and servicing including diagnostics and electronics.

You must be able to produce high quality work in a busy environment and be motivated through set targets, showing flexibility according to the needs of your team.

You will be a committed individual with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude, and willingness to work as part of an effective team.

You will have good communication skills to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of work through the workshop, making sure you liaise with other team members to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Requirements:

  • Carry out fault diagnosis, service, and repair.
  • Ensure faults are accurately diagnosed and report to workshop controller as required on vehicle condition, safety, reliability and performance.
  • Indicate to workshop controller possible future faults and repair requirements.
  • Ensure that quality procedures relating to the function laid down by the Company are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure all procedures relating to service books and service, repair and warranty are carried out.
  • Maintain all records and paperwork relevant to the function, ensuring they are accurate and up to date at all times.
  • Issue customers with video of required work to be carried out on vehicle.

3rd/4th Year Apprentice Technician Requirements While Training

  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Will be required to operate to efficiencies and productivity standards
  • Will have a full clean driving license/Or in the process of qualifying to drive (3months leeway MAX)
  • Be able to work to high standards and be highly motivated
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Be willing to partake in any training required (including online training in your own time)

Main objectives and responsibilities

  • To service repair vehicles in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • To make written and verbal reports on service and repair activity to the workshop controller.
  • To complete administrative procedures (including warranty) relating to service and repair work.
  • To maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
  • To undertake vehicle road tests.
  • To attend dealership and manufacturers’ training programmes.

Specific tasks

  • To carry out service and repair work in accordance with manufacturer and dealership quality standards.
  • To achieve laid down efficiencies and productivity targets.
  • To strictly observe the documentation requirements and administrative/reporting procedures.
  • To strictly observe dealership Health and Safety regulations.
  • To contribute to good team spirit and the achievement of departmental objectives.
  • To take care of dealership equipment and tools.
  • To ensure that the personal tool kit is maintained at an appropriate level.
  • To read and understand manufacturer and dealership technical bulletins.
