Brian Lynch 32 Chapel Street, Mountmellick died March 19th 2025 in his 95th year. Former Sinn Fein Town Councillor, Founder Member Mountmellick Christmas Tree Commitee and Mountmellick Credit Union, Life Long Member Pioneer Total Abstinence Association, Member of Mountmellick Active Retirement Group, Mountmellick Gun Club, Mountmellick Angling Club, Irish Camping and Caravan Club, Associate member Mountmellick Macra.

Predeceased by his dear wife Angela and his brothers Tony, Austin, Sam and Oliver. Deeply regretted by his sons Stephen, Brian and Liam and their wives Mary, Ann and Deirdre, his five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, brother Ger and sister Margaret, nieces nephews, sister- in-law Sheila, brother-in-law Hubert, neighbours, relatives and his many friends.

Reposing in his home (R32T6R7) on Thursday from 5pm. Recital of The Rosary at 7pm. Reposing Moloney’s Funeral Home on Friday from 5pm. Recital of The Rosary at 6.30pm. Reposing in The Funeral Home Saturday from 2pm. Removal at 3.15pm to St Joseph’s Church Mountmellick for Requiem Mass at 3.30pm.Burial afterwards in St Joseph’s Cemetery.

Elizabeth (Lill) Boyhan
Currawn, Aghaboe, Ballacolla, Laois

Lill passed away peacefully on the 19th March 2025, surrounded by her loving family, and in the care of the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital Kilkenny, in her 95th year.

Predeceased by her husband George and sons Michael, Owen and George. Deeply regretted by her sons Billy, John, Hugh and Kevin, daughters Kathleen and Lillie, daughters-in-law Margaret and Cora, sons-in-law Joe and Michael, partners Fiona, Eileen and Angela, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended family, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her son Kevin’s home (eircode R32D378) on Thursday evening (20th March) from 4.0’clock, concluding with Rosary at 8.0’clock. Removal on Friday morning (21st March) to St. Canice’s Church Clough (eircode R32K003), for Requiem Mass at 12 noon, followed by Burial in Bealady Cemetery, Rathdowney.

Lill’s Requiem Mass will be live streamed. House private on Friday morning please.

Eileen Ramsbottom
Ballinaclough, Timahoe, Laois

The death has occurred of Eileen Ramsbottom, St. Joseph’s Street Limerick, formerly Ballinaclough, Timahoe, Co. Laois. March 18th 2025, peacefully at Millbrae Lodge Nursing Home, Newport, Co. Tipperary.

Predeceased by her parents Helena & John, brothers Paddy, Har, Jim, Jack, Ted, sisters Kathleen (Delaney), Sheila (Moran) & Carmel (Roche) and step sisters Margaret (Foyle) and Mary (Miller).

Eileen will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews, close friends in Limerick, and extended family and friends.

Reposing at the home of Helen Ramsbottom Shortall (niece), Rath, Timahoe, Co. Laois, R32 AE92 from 5pm to 8pm Wednesday 19th March followed by Rosary at 8pm. Removal on Thursday 20th March to St. Michael’s Church, Timahoe for funeral mass at 11 am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Frances Duff (née Brophy)
Ballyknockan, Portlaoise, Laois, R32KV63

Frances Duff (nee Brophy) Ballyknockan, Portlaoise R32KV63. March 18th 2025. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Tom. Dearly loved mother to Mary, Richard, Frances, Carmel, Anne and Olive. Cherished grandmother to Jane, Paul, Tomás, Ríona, Hannah, James, Eoin, Fionn, Dónal, Seán, Padraig, Emma and Tom. Predeceased by her sisters Mary and Sr. Catherine and brother Michael. Deeply regretted by her loving family, brother John, sisters Sinclair, Helena and Bridget, sons in law, brothers in law, sisters in law, cousins, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at her family residence on Wednesday from 3pm with rosary at 8pm. Removal on Thursday morning to arrive at SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for 11am requiem mass. Interment will follow in SS Peter and Paul’s Cemetery, Portlaoise.

Mary Kiely (née Doyle)
Mountrath, Laois

Mary passed away on 17th March 2025, peacefully surrounded by her loving family and in the care of the staff at Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Predeceased by her beloved husband Joe and daughter Sheila.

Deeply regretted by her children Agnes, John, Robert and Thomas. Sadly missed by her family, grandchildren Shauna, Jamie, Emma, Rachel and Niamh, daughters-in-law Geraldine and Amanda, nieces and nephews, extended family, relatives, and friends.

Reposing at her son John’s home (R32 XY13) Mountrath on Wednesday evening (March 19th) from 3.0’clock, concluding with Rosary at 8.0’clock. Removal on Thursday morning (March 20th) to St. Fintan’s Church, Mountrath for Requiem Mass at 10.0’clock, followed by Burial in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

House private on Thursday morning please.

Gash, Castletown, Laois

Jack Bergin, Gash Court, Castletown, Portlaoise, Co. Laois. Died March 16th 2025, peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Elizabeth (Lil), parents James and Annie, brother Fintan, sisters Marie and Sheila.

Deeply regretted by his loving family, son John, daughters Paula and Amanda, brothers Seamie, Michael, Peter and Murty, his 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, sons in law Thomas and Richard, daughter in law Kathleen, sisters in law, brother in law, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his daughter Amanda’s home, Pike of Rushall (Eircode R32W5Y9) Tuesday (March 18th) from 4pm concluding with prayers at 7.30pm. Removal from his home Gash Court, Castletown to St. Edmund’s Church, Castletown, Wednesday (March 19th) for evening prayers at 7.30pm. Funeral Mass Thursday morning (March 20th) at 11am in St. Edmund’s Church, Castletown, followed by burial in Churchtown Cemetery, Castletown.

Donaghmore, Laois

Peter Thomas Alley, Donaghmore, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, March 14th. 2025, suddenly in the loving care of Prague House, Freshford, Co. Kilkenny.
Predeceased by his parents Peter George Alley and Gertrude (Finnamore).

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his son’s Philip and Mark, their mother Sandra, their partners Amanda and Pre, grandsons Jayson, Cian and Oran, brothers George and Gordon, sister Iris, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends

Reposing at O’Sullivan’s funeral home Rathdowney (Eircode R32 NY24) on Wednesday March 19th. from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock. Removal on Thursday to St. Patrick’s Church, Donaghmore, arriving for funeral service at 2.30. Interment afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.
