Fifty Seven Boutique celebrating one year of business in new Durrow premises

It has been one whole year since the retail landscape of Durrow changed significantly.

Fifty Seven Boutique and Gift Emporium are this weekend celebrating the first anniversary of their move into their new premises in Durrow.

Having traded in the village for almost five years prior to that in a smaller unit, the vacant Bank of Ireland premises became available in the village following the closure of many rural branches.

This provided an opportunity for Mary and Jenny Miller to expand their offering to the people of Durrow and beyond.

On 8th March last year, they breathed new life into an empty premises and today … what a transformation.

This large spacious shop is home to a beautiful selection of quality ladies fashion brands, a quirky selection of children’s wear, art, pottery and gift wear sourced from Irish crafters and suppliers all across Europe.

It has fast become  a destination shopping experience for ladies from all over Ireland and beyond.

Durrow has to be one of most magical little towns in Ireland. Nestled in the heart of the midlands in the lovely fertile lands of south county Laois bordering nearby counties of Kilkenny and Tipperary makes it a very accessible location for all.

So whether it’s a day trip you plan to Durrow or a weekend break you will be spoiled for choice.

“This year has been a hugely significant year in our development,” says Jenny Miller, owner of Fifty Seven.

“We have been building the business gradually for number of years now, but the changes we have made in the past two years which resulted in us making the move into our new Durrow store has been brilliant!

“The response of people to our presence in Durrow has been wonderful and people seem to really like what we are offering.

“Our main aim in Fifty Seven is to offer a shop and service that combines good quality products and value for money.

“We are constantly working hard to source unusual products that people are pleasantly surprised by the price.

“Another key part of our busisness is the pride we take in the good service we aim to offer customers. We are blessed with a team of fantastic ladies who work with us in Fifty Seven and I’m very confident that anybody who comes for a shopping trip to Fifty Seven will be very well looked after by any of our brilliant team.

“In an era where online sales and self service checkout are becoming more and more prevalent and retailers are being advised to move towards them, our firm belief and deep hope is that there will always be customers that prefer to shop in physical stores rather than online and therefore ensuring that businesses like Fifty Seven remain on the landscape for many years to come.”
Fifty Seven are open Monday-Saturday, 10am-5:30pm in Athy and Durrow.
