Colin Conroy was the captain and man of the match as TUS Midwest claimed the Bob Eustace Cup in Athlone Town Stadium yesterday.
The Portlaoise man was instrumental in the success for his side as they clinched what is the senior cup on the All-Ireland Colleges scene.
Conroy’s side got the better of TU Dublin in a tense final that was decided by a solitary goal.
The sides couldn’t be separated in the first half until a moment of genius from Conroy changed the game.
His through ball split the TUD defence and allowed Jack Ryan to race through to beat goalkeeper Jamie Molloy with a clinical finish.
It was a dream start to the half for the Limerick based college who had dominated most of the first half without managing to register a score.
After going behind TU Dublin then suffered another blow when they were reduced to ten men after Eric Abudiore picked up a second yellow card and got his marching orders from referee Ciaran O’Reilly.
Conroy lifted the cup and was presented with the man of the match award.
It continues the fine start to the 2025 season for him as he has been a regular for Treaty United in the First Division this season.
With two wins from three games, Treaty sit second in the table and face leaders Dundalk on Friday night.
