Two Laois winners at Irish Pedigree Cattle Breeders Council All-Star Awards

The 2025 Irish Pedigree Cattle Breeders Council All-Star Awards has seen two of its prestigious honours won by farmers from County Laois.

Garrett Behan from Ballyfin and Tommy and Pauline Fitzgerald from Clonaslee were honoured on an important night in the farming calendar.

Further honour was brought to the county as Laois was chosen to host the Awards.

The event was held in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise, with special guest Damien O’Reilly from the Irish Co-operative Organisation Society making the presentations.

Fifteen breed societies nominated the breeder or animal they believe best represented their breed in 2024.

In the the Irish Simmental Cattle Society category, Ballyfin’s Garrett Behan was named as winner.

Tommy and Pauline Fitzgerald from Clonaslee were named Irish Belgian Blue Cattle Society winners.

There were also wins from farmers of neighbouring counties Offaly and Carlow.

Jack Larkin from Tullamore was named Irish Hereford Breed Society winner, while Conor Murphy from Tullow was the Irish Shorthorn Society winner.
