Laois Macra all set to host the rescheduled National Capers Final

Laois Macra are set to host the Macra National Capers Final on March 1, with Mountmellick representing Laois in the event.

The highly anticipated Macra Capers final, originally scheduled for February 1, was postponed due to a power outage in Mountmellick.

However, the excitement is back as the event has now been rescheduled to take place on Saturday, March 1, at 7.30pm at Mountmellick Arts Centre.

It promises to be a night packed with laughter, music, and high-energy performances.

Six teams – Callan, Kilkenny City, South Tipperary, Insane, Freemount and Mountmellick – will battle it out for the coveted top prize, showcasing their 20-minute variety shows filled with comedy, dance, poetry, and light entertainment.

Mountmellick will represent Laois in this exciting competition, with a talented team of 15 eager performers ready to showcase their creativity and energy.

Their show, “Un-laois’d: The Olympic Dream,” combines sport-themed comedy, poetry about achieving peace, instrumental music, and much more, reflecting the team’s passion and dedication.

The Mountmellick team delivered a stellar performance at the semi-final on January 11 in Graiguenamanagh, Kilkenny, and now look forward to bringing their best to the All-Ireland final.

The Mountmellick team members are: Amy Strong, Nathan Flanagan, Aoife Oxley, Michéal Kilheeny, Alanah Conroy, Katelyn Dempsey, Ciara Hennessy, Sorcha Hartnett, Aoife Mallon, Kellie Fox, Zoe Dempsey, Niamh Feighery, Conan Kirwan, Sophie Ahern, Sue Le Blanc Meredith.

The show is produced by Colette Cashin and AC Reynolds and choreographed by Louise Ahern, with backstage support from Chris Joyce, Adam Fitzpatrick, and Kevin Scott. Lighting is provided by Patrick Ahern and Larry Ryan.

Tickets for the event are €15, and both cash and card payments will be accepted at the door.
