In Pictures: Colaiste Iosagain student receives entrance scholarship for excellent Leaving Cert results

A former Colaiste Iosagain Portarlington student was recognised recently for his outstanding 2024 Leaving Cert results.

Daniel Brady was honoured by NUI Maynooth when he received an entrance scholarship and bursary from the University.

Daniel received a very impressive 589 points which included an H1 in Physics, Maths and Chemistry.

Daniel is a son of Fiona and David Brady, Kilbeg, Walsh Island. He is now doing a Bsc in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics.

Principal Justin Brown paid tribute to Daniel and also mentioned others who excelled in the school last year.

He said: “We are very proud of Daniel. Apart from his obvious academic ability Daniel was a very quiet student.

“He did his work without fuss or fanfare and was always a pleasure to deal with.

“A gentleman in every respect. Daniel was never one to brag or boast which makes him even more deserving in our eyes.

“Daniel was just one of a group of our Leaving Certificate students who were recognised this year for their achievements.

“John O’Kane, Harish Katta also received scholarships from Trinity and UCD respectively.

“Meanwhile three of our outgoing students were recognised for their excellence in their Leaving Certificate Applied results.

“John Whelan, Chantelle Dowling and Kelly Lyons achieved 100% in their overall LCA while John receive additional recognition for his Engineering Project which was deemed the best nationally.”
