The midlands scooped several of the top awards at the Supermac’s Annual Awards that were held at the Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick.

And chief among them was an outlet which was named the very best of them all.

Supermac’s at The Portlaoise Plaza won Outlet of the Year, led by site manager Colm Mulrooney.

Manager at the Supermac’s in the Portlaoise Plaza, Shane Byrne-Comerford, was selected as Manager of the year.

Speaking at the event Supermac’s MD, Pat McDonagh, paid tribute to the Supermac’s teams.

He said: “All of our winners have worked very hard to get to a level where they win an award.

“There are 120 outlets so the competition is strong and to achieve to be the Supermac’s Outlet of the Year is something all our winners should be proud of.”

Across the border, the Deli at the Obama Plaza won the Deli of the Year Award.

Supermac’s Roscrea won the coveted Papa John’s Outlet of the Year and Supermac’s Ballinalack picked up an award for operational excellence.

47 years ago, Supermac’s first opened its door in Ballinasloe and a year later made its first venture outside of County Galway by opening an outlet on O’Connell St in Ennis.

The group currently employs over 4,000 people throughout the country. Supermac’s also operates Papa John’s Pizza, SuperSubs and Macs Place Diners.

The Só Hotel Group is also owned by Pat and Úna McDonagh which includes the Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise.
