New church railing for Ballylinan, flooding resolved from The Swan to Newtown and passing bays for Wolfhill

A new church railing is to be installed in Ballylinan following a request from a Laois County Councillor.

Fianna Fail’s Padraig Fleming called for Laois County Council to install a new railing in the interest of health and safety.

In response senior engineer Philip McVeigh said: “Laois County Council will arrange to have the railing installed at this location as soon as possible.”

Fleming also asked the Laois County Council to open up the water cuts on the R430 from The Swan up to Newtown as there can be a lot of spot flooding on this road.

He said: “The existing water cuts are blocked and when heavy rain comes, the water lodges.”

Senior engineer Philip McVeigh said: “Laois County Council has commenced water cuts between Killeshin and Newtown and these works will now continue along the R430 from Newtown to the Swan.”

Councillor Fleming also requested ‘that Laois County Council install passing bays on the road from the ball alley at Wolfhill up towards Crossard’.

Fleming received response a positive response from senior engineer Philip McVeigh.

He said: “Laois County Council will arrange for improvement works to an existing passing bay along with the provision of a new passing bay on the opposite side of the road in the 2025 programme of works.”
