St Patrick’s Day in New York. Of all the iconic destinations for our national holiday, New York is the big one.
Connecting with the Irish diaspora on St Patrick’s Day is a long-held tradition and this year the LaoisToday team of Steven Miller and Paul Dargan will be making the journey, accompanying the wonderful Timahoe Men’s Choir on their trip, marching in the parade and meeting Laois people in the US city.
“We have always said that we would love to go to New York for St Patrick’s Day,” says Steven Miller, the owner and managing director of LaoisToday.
“Since establishing the business eight years ago, one of the most satisfying things was hearing from Laois people across the world who enjoy using our service to stay connected with home.
“Initially we said that we would make the trip to mark our 10th anniversary but coinciding with the Timahoe Men’s Choir was too good an opportunity to pass up.
“As well as attending their live performances, we’ll also be linking up with the Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council Padraig Fleming and newly-appointed CEO of Laois County Council Michael Rainey who will be representing the county.
“We have a range of coverage planned and will have daily updates – in written, video and podcast format – on LaoisToday and across our social media channels.
“We would love to hear from people with Laois connections in New York. Please get in touch with us and we’ll do our best to link up with you, get your photos and hear your stories.”
