Sadness in Killeshin following the passing of former juvenile GAA chairman and coach

    There is great sadness in Killeshin this week following the passing of a former GAA juvenile chairman and coach.

    Sean Brennan, originally from Arles and formerly of Ballyhide, passed away on Tuesday, February 11.

    Mr Brennan, who worked for the ESB, peacefully at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise surrounded by his loving family.

    A key member of the Killeshin club, they paid tribute to him on social media last night.

    Sean was manager when Killeshin won their first ever U-14 championship in 1999.

    They said: “As a mark of respect to the late Sean Brennan our grounds will be closed until Saturday.

    “Sean was a former juvenile chairperson of Killeshin GAA amongst the many other roles he held in the club both on and off the field.

    “When Sean first came to Killeshin GAA, he played an active role in coaching as his three sons were playing and they were very successful in winning many underage championships through the years.

    “He was the epitome of what a true GAA person should be. Sean will be sadly missed by all in the club and community.

    “The club would to extend condolences to Caroline, Eoin and Robbie at this time.”

    Sean is predeceased by his late son Sean Jnr who passed away tragically in 2006.

    Sean is survived by his wife Caroline and sons Robert and Eoin.

    He is sadly missed by his loving wife, sons, daughter-in-law Niamh, brother Liam, sisters Catherine and Bridie, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

    Sean is predeceased by his siblings Pat, Mary, Vincent, Joe, Dan, Bernadette, Margaret and Séamus.

    Sean will be reposing at his home (R93 FXY9) on Thursday from 2pm concluding with prayers at 8pm.

    His removal will be on Friday to the Church of the Holy Cross, Killeshin to arrive for funeral Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery with his beloved son Seán Jnr.
