In Pictures: All smiles as Clough-Ballacolla camogie club celebrate 2024 with awards evening

There was a huge turn out, with lots of chaos, noise and celebrating, as Clough-Ballacolla Camogie club held their annual awards evening on Sunday.

It was fantastic to see all the camogie clubs juvenile players being presented their gifts as it was essential to acknowledge each player’s achievements in 2024.

The camogie players were gifted their awards by Laois camogie Soaring Star and Premier Junior camogie player of the year Clodagh Tynan.

She was joined by Marian Ferns, a talented dual player who was recently presented the Full Back Laois LGFA Senior Team of the Year award.

Marian’s football club is Shanahoe but she also plays camogie and jointly captained Clough-Ballacolla’s junior team to victory last October.

Another special guest present was Ciara Breslin. Ciara lined out for Republic of Ireland U-17s soccer team this week, playing Hungary in Spain on Saturday.

Ciara is from Clough and plays soccer with Treaty United Football Club in Limerick. She recently was presented with her Irish Cap for U-16 appearances in 2024.

Ciara is a talented sports player who played camogie for years with Clough-Ballacolla. The camogie club wishes her every success in her future career in soccer.

While Shanahoe footballer and former All-Ireland winner Mary Griffin (Kirwan) was also present as MC on the night.

It was an honour to have such talented range of female sports stars present to inspire the next generation.

Clough-Ballacolla Camoige U-15 team and mentors were acknowledged for their tremendous All-Ireland Division 3 Feile win in 2024. This was a monumental achievement for the club.

Mary Griffin said: “A special word of thanks to our Chairman Georgie Boyhan, Secretary Edel Nolan, to our camogie club commitee for the preparation of the awards evening, to the mentors, parents and players for a great year.

“The club is growing with each year with the continuous support & encouragement of everyone’s input. We look forward to the 2025 season.”
