Ladies National Football League Division 3 Round 3
The Laois Ladies have their first win in Division 3 of the National Football League after coming from behind today.
In a game played in Newry, Laois prevailed by two points to secure their first win of the season.
Laois’s first round encounter with Carlow was postponed due to an unplayable pitch two weeks ago.
They belatedly began their campaign last week where they went down heavily against Louth in Crettyard.
Laois made a better start this time though as early goals from Ciara Burke and Eva Galvin put them into the lead.
But just like last week, Laois’s defence gave up chances and Down plundered three goals before the interval.
It left them 3-2 to 2-3 ahead at the break and they instantly increased that when play resumed with a fourth goal.
But Laois recovered after that and were the better side for the remainder of the game.
Emma Lawlor top scored with seven points while Shifra Havill and Grainne Moran also got on the scoresheet.
Laois now move onto three points and will play Carlow in that refixed Round 1 game on Sunday.
