It was all smiles in the chamber of Laois County Council last week as a young dancer received the highest of accolades.
Stradbally’s Bobby Kinsella was honoured with a Civic Reception to celebrate his achievements in 2024.
Bobby Kinsella won the U-11 category in An Chomhdháil Irish Dancing World Championships in Killarney last March.
Following his win, legendary dancer Michael Flatley expressed his hope that Bobby could become part of Lord of The Dance one day.
Bobby is from a renowned Irish dancing family – his Mam Carmel Manton-Kinsella is a well-known teacher while Carmel’s mother is the much-loved Gabrielle Lynam, who opened her dancing school way back in 1978 and has countless dancers under her tutelage.
Needless to say Bobby dances with the Lynam School of Dancing.
The idea for a Civic Reception was first proposed by Fianna Fail’s Paschal McEvoy and seconded by Catherine Fitzgerald.
A fifth class student in St Colman’s NS in Stradbally, Bobby was joined in the chamber by his dad David and mam Carmel.
He was also accompanied by his brothers, Eric and Joss, and his Granny, Gabrielle Lynam
