All-Ireland Colleges Camogie ‘C’ Senior Championship Quarter Final
There was heartbreak for Heywood CS today as their All-Ireland dreams ended this afternoon.
The Leinster champions were up against Our Lady’s Templemore in Heywood this afternoon.
But after an incredibly tough tussle, Heywood were beaten by just a point in the end.
The first half was extremely low scoring as both defences were on top.
Eimear Murphy, Kaylah O’Mara and Laoise Dunne were on the scoresheet for the hosts.
But Templemore scored one more in reply to lead 0-4 to 0-3 at half time.
Templemore extended their lead when play resumed as Heywood tried to keep in touch with a brace from Eimear Murphy.
Templemore added two more before Murphy replied and then Heywood took the lead with 14 minutes to play.
Niamh O’Shea rattled the net for the game’s only goal to leave Heywood 1-6 to 0-8 ahead.
However, the Laois team failed to score again as Templemore got the last two points of the game to win by one.
A heartbreaking end but the team can be very proud of their achievements this year.
