Funeral details have been announced following the sad passing of Giovanni (Nino) Ciamberlano.
Mr Ciamberlano is known to all in Laois as the owner of Nino’s Fish & Chips on Main Street in Portlaoise.
He passed away unexpectedly after an illness, bravely borne, at Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise on Tuesday.
Nino will be reposing on Sunday, February 2, in Keegan’s Funeral Home, 1 Dublin Road, Portlaoise, R32W10E from 3pm with Rosary at 5pm.
His Removal will take place on Monday to St Peter & Paul’s Church, Portlaoise for Mass at 11am. (Funeral Home private on Monday morning).
From Colle San Magno in Italy, Nino Ciamberlano originally came to Ireland in 1969.
He originally worked for the Macari family in Dublin before he, and his wife Stella, opened their own shop in Oldcastle, Meath in 1976.
The following year, they moved to Mountmellick and, in July 1982, opened Nino’s in Portlaoise.
Nino retired in 2004 and he leased the premises to Francesco and Gabriella Caperna – the sister of Dino Forte, owner of the Golden Grill in Lower Main Street.
Nino is survived by his wife Stella and four daughters Rosaria, Claudia, Silvia and Cristina.
Predeceased by his Mother Civita, and father Magno, Nino is forever loved and sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Stella, daughters Rosaria, Claudia, Silvia, and Cristina.
His nephews Pepe and Rosario. His siblings Maria, Pompea, Adele,Rocco, and Antonio. Sons in law Antonio and Christy, partners James and Yvonne.
Cherished by his grandchildren Fabio, Luca, Aoibhinn, Áine, Ruairí, Lana, and Daragh, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, neighbours, and friends.
