That is according to one man who says of he and his partner: “We bought a house in March and now we’re homeless.”

There were 89 residential properties sold in Laois during December according to the Property Price Register, a remarkable decrease of almost 50% on the 2023 figure.

It brings to an end a poor run in 2024 where the month-on-moth figures did not compare favourably with 2023.

Portlaoise have appointed Turlough O’Brien as their new senior football manager for the 2025 season.

Mountmellick Community School were crowned 2nd Year South Leinster ‘D’ football champions this week following a mammoth encounter with Johnstown of Kilkenny.

In a game played on the astro in Heywood, this match required extra time to be settled.
