There is great sadness in Mountmellick and the surrounding area following the passing of a beloved local nurse.
Trish Kelley (née Lawlor), aged in her late 60’s, passed away on Wednesday, January, 22, following an illness.
She spent much of her life working as a nurse in Liverpool and it was in England where she met her late husband, Eddy.
Ms Kelley was renowned in the Mountmellick area for her work alongside popular local GP, Dr Aidan Hansen.
She then joined Dr Vivek Mahadev’s practice at Glenard Clinic Mountmellick when it opened at the new facility on Connolly Street.
Her father, Johnny Lawlor, was a well-known barber in Mountmellick at his shop on Market Street just off O’Connell Square.
The business remined in the family when Ms Kelley’s sister, Doris, took over.
Ms Kelley was a valued member of Yarn Bombing Mountmellick from early in the group’s conception and also a keen walker, regularly seen stepping around the town.
