Joan Delaney (née Bowden), Clonburren, Rathdowney, Co. Laois, January 20th. 2025 unexpectedly at Fennor Care Facility, Urlingford. Predeceased by her beloved husband Martin and her parents Nicholas and Kathleen. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Diarmaid, daughters Sorcha and Orlaith, daughter-in-law Veronica, sons-in-law Murray and Alex, granddaughter Sarah, brothers Richard and Seamus, sister Nancy, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at O’Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Rathdowney (Eircode R32 NY24) on Sunday, January 26th, from 5 o’clock pausing for prayers at 7 o’clock. Removal on Monday morning, January 27th, to Our Lady Queen of the Universe Church, Errill arriving for Requiem mass at 11 o’clock. Interment afterwards in St. Kieran’s Cemetery, Errill.

Trish Kelley (née Lawlor)
Mountmellick, Laois

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Trish Kelley, née Lawlor (Nurse Kelley, Glenard Clinic) after an illness bourne with great courage and dignity, surrounded by her loving family, friends and the staff of Dún Aine (St. Vincent’s, CNU Mountmellick).

Beloved wife of the late Eddy. Trish was deeply loved by her brothers Michael (R.I.P.) John, Dermot, Gerry and sister Doris (Flannery) and by her extended family and friends who she cherished.

Reposing Moloney’s Funeral Home Thursday from 6pm Recital of The Rosary at 7.30pm. Removal from her home on Friday morning at 1.20pm via Connolly Street arriving St Joseph’s Church for Requiem Mass 2pm. Burial after in St Joseph’s Cemetery. House Private Please.

Martin Cuddy
Ballinrally, Camross, Laois

The death has occurred of Martin Cuddy, Ballinrally, Camross, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, on the 21st January 2025 peacefully at the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise. Predeceased by his parents Martin and Sheila, sister Teresa and brother Joe. Survived by his brother Oliver, sisters Mary Leeman, Sheila Dowling, Rita Keenan, and Carmel Waters, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Reposing at Burke’s Funeral Home Mountrath on Thursday evening (23rd January) from 5.0’clock concluding with Rosary at 7.0’clock. Due to adverse weather conditions (red weather warning), Removal will take place on Saturday morning (25th January) to St. Fergal’s Church Camross, for Requiem Mass at 10.0’clock, followed by Burial in the adjoining Cemetery.

Thomas O’Connor
Shronebeirne, Kilmorna, Kerry/Abbeyfeale, Limerick/Mountmellick, Laois

Thomas O’Connor, 1 Lord Edward St, Mountmellick, Co. Laois and late of Shronebeirne, Kilmorna, Listowel, Co. Kerry.

Thomas passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and in the wonderful care of the doctors, nurses and staff of Tallaght University Hospital on Sunday 19th January 2025 after being taken ill suddenly the previous Friday.

Thomas is predeceased by his father Jimmy, his mother Betty and his baby sister Carmel.

Thomas, adored father, grandfather, brother, uncle and grand-uncle is dearly missed by his heartbroken family: his son Timothy, daughter-in-law Gemma, his grandchildren, Mireya, Tierni, Cillian and Torryn, his brothers John and Jim, sisters Mary Jo, his twin sister Eileen, Leisha and Trina, his brothers-in-law; Neilus, Eddie, Charles and Conny, sister-in-law Noreen and Jim’s partner Ruth, his nieces and nephews, his aunt-in-law Nora, his girlfriend Rita, his relatives and many friends.

Reposing at Harnett’s Funeral Home, The Square, Abbeyfeale on Thursday, 23rd January from 6.00 p.m. until 8.00p.m.

Funeral arriving at St. Brigid’s Church Duagh on Friday, 24th January for Requiem Mass at 12.00 p.m.

Kathleen King (née Delaney)
Curragh, Rosemount, Moate, Westmeath/Ballinakill, Laois

Kathleen King (née Delaney); Curragh, Rosemount, Moate, and late of Ballinakill (Brandra, Attanagh, Portlaoise, Co. Laois). Peacefully on Tuesday, 21st January 2025, at Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore, surrounded by her family, after a long illness borne with her characteristic courage, determination, and grace.

Predeceased by her parents Bill and Anna. Lovingly remembered by her husband Con, sons Thomas and Liam, daughters Anne Marie (Anna) and Carmel, granddaughters Lara and Elise, brothers Jim, Pat, John, Philip and Liam, sisters Mary and Anna, son-in-law Brian, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at St. Thomas Church, Rosemount, this Thursday 23rd from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral mass on Friday, 24th, at 12 (noon). Burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

Maher (née O’Brien), Betty (The Donahies, Dublin 13 and late of Rathdowney, Co. Laois), January 16th, 2025, unexpectedly at home, after a short illness bravely borne.

Beloved wife of Seán and much loved mother to Mary, Pat, Deirdre, Denise, Seán, Sandra and Karen.

Sadly missed by her heartbroken family, her beloved grandchildren Niamh, Seán, David, James, Hannah, Jack, Thomas, Leah, Cian, Aaron, Sophia and Alex, brothers Martin, Seán and Jackie, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, friends and wonderful neighbours in Dublin and Rathdowney.

The death has taken place of Nancy (Anne) Stapleton ńee Maher, Maudlin Street Thomastown, Co Kilkenny and formerly of Durrow, Co Laois peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family. 20th January 2025.

Predeceased by her Husband John, brothers and sisters and her daughter-in-law Siobhan. Sadly missed by her sons Tony, Peter and Ray, daughters Una, Ann and Sally, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Sons and daughters-in-law, Nieces and Nephews and extended family and friends.

Reposing at her residence from 3pm on Wednesday 22nd January with prayers at 6pm followed by removal to the Church of the Assumption Thomastown for evening prayers. Requiem mass on Thursday 23rd January at 11am followed by burial in St Mary’s New cemetery Thomastown, Co Kilkenny.

Nora Dowling (née Kealy) of Gortahile, Crettyard, Carlow, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on January 20th, 2025, at Droimnin Nursing Home, Stradbally, Co Laois,

Beloved wife of the late Michael and much loved mother of Willie, Julia, Ollie and Kathy and cherished sister of Margaret and the late John and Kitty

She will be sadly missed by her loving sons, daughters, grandchildren Kevin, Alana and Jennifer, great-grandchildren, son-in-law Jan, relatives, good neighbours and friends.

Reposing in Carpenter’s Bros Funeral Home, Shamrock Sq., Carlow (Eircode R93 C863) from 4pm on Wednesday, January 22nd, concluding with Prayers at 7.30pm that evening. Removal from there on Thursday at 10.15am to The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mayo, Co. Laois, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
