Two Laois girls played prominant roles as Presentation Thurles claimed the Munster ‘A’ Schools Senior soccer title this afternoon.
They were up against St Mary’s Middleton of Cork in what was a tense final.
In the end, the Tipperary school prevailed on a 2-1 scoreline with two Laois girls involved.
Doireann Brennan, from Portlaoise, was between the sticks and made some key saves throughout.
While Ciara Breslin, who hails from Clough, was in attack where she worked tirelessly throughout.
This was the school’s second consecutive Munster title and after winning the semi final by 7-1 against St Mary’s of Nenagh, that was a far tougher test.
For Brennan and Breslin, it was a second significant title to win together as teammates.
Back in 2022, they were part of the Portlaoise AFC team that claimed All-Ireland SFAI glory.
Since then, the pair have continued their careers into the League of Ireland set up.
Brennan played last season with Wexford FC while Breslin was with Treaty United of Limerick.
They will now go forward to represent Presentation Thurles at All-Ireland level.
