Michael passed away peacefully in his 91st year surrounded by his loving family. Sadly missed by his heartbroken wife Molly of 67 years, his devoted daughters Sue, Gem and Rho, his adoring grandchildren Joey and Lucy, son in law Mario, brother in law Eamonn, sister in law Margaret, niece’s, nephews, friends and neighbours.
Removal from his home by Whelehan Funeral Directors on Saturday morning at 11:40am to arrive at the church of the Sacred Heart Stradbally (R32 WRH9) for 12 o’clock Requiem mass, which can be viewed on https://svtparish.ie/webcam. Internment to follow in Oakvale Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Michael Cloney, Ballyfin Road, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, formerly of Pinewood, Wexford Town.
Loving husband of Brenda, much loved father of Jane, Carlsen, John, and Daniel, and adored daideó of Sol, Saoirse, and Oisín.
Funeral mass will take place on Saturday 18 January at 12 noon requiem mass, at SS Peter and Pauls Church, Portlaoise.

Alan O’Brien, Ashley Gardens, Portlaoise, Co. Laois. Died January, 14th 2024, peacefully at home following a short illness surrounded by his loving family. Dearly loved husband of Sharon and adored dad of Ella and Molly. He will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his wife, daughters, mother Maureen, brothers Niall, Enda, Conor, sisters Orla and Bronagh, Aunt Carmel, sisters-in-law Aine, Denise, Joy, Catherine and Ann, brothers-in-law Brian, Paul and Derek, nephews and nieces Holly, Hazel, Connor, Hannah, Thea, Rossa, Hope, Emily, Jacob, Danann, Tierna, Macdara, Lauren, Glen, Amy, and Nia, relatives, neighbours, work colleagues and a large circle of friends.
Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home on Thursday, 16th January, from 5pm till 7pm with rosary at 6:30pm. Requiem mass will take place on Friday at 11:30am in SS Peter and Paul’s Church, Portlaoise followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium, Co. Cavan at 3:30pm (H12 NX77). Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Irish Cancer Society.

Thomas Dempsey, Portlaoise and formerly Dublin in his 82nd year. Will be sorely missed by his loving family, daughter Fiona and son, Mark and his wife, Katherine.
Thomas’s requiem Mass will take place on Friday 17th in The Church of the Assumption, The Heath (R32 TN88) at 12 noon which can be viewed on https://www.portlaoiseparish.ie Followed by private cremation in Newlands Cross Crematorium Dublin.

The death has occurred of Michael (Mick) Carter – Brosna Lawns, Mullingar, Co Westmeath and formerly Mountmellick, Co Laois – January 13, 2025 (unexpectedly) at his home. Beloved husband and best friend of Geraldine (née McNamee); Michael will be very sadly missed by his wife, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. Remembering also the deceased members of the Carter and McNamee families.
Reposing at Gilsenans Funeral Home (N91 K660) on Thursday, January 16th, from 9.45 am followed by removal to the Cathedral of Christ the King for Funeral Mass at 11 am. The Mass may be viewed on the live webcam at www.mullingarparish.ie. Burial afterwards in Ballyglass Cemetery.

Bernadette (Bern) McRedmond, Knockanina, Mountrath, Co. Laois and late of Grove House, Abbeyleix, Co. Laois. Died January 14th 2025, peacefully in the loving care of the wonderful staff at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise and surrounded by her loving family.
Predeceased by her parents Bernie and Sheila, recently deceased sister Sheila, brothers Liam and Christy.
Deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by her sisters Mary (Moore), Margaret (Boyhan), Kathleen (Mulhall) and Chris, her brothers Michael, Frank and Donal, aunt Maidie (McGill), carer Evelyn, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
Reposing at Guilfoyle’s Funeral Home, Castletown, (Eircode R32TN84), Wednesday (Jan 15th) from 5pm to 8pm pausing for prayers at 7pm. Removal from Guilfoyle’s Funeral Home on Thursday morning (Jan 16th) to arrive at St. Edmund’s Church, Castletown for Funeral Mass at 11am, with burial immediately afterwards in St. Fintan’s Cemetery, Mountrath.

Catherine (Tess) Stodel (née Dunne)
Clonabeg, Clonaslee, Laois
Catherine (Tess) Stodel, (Née Dunne), formerly of Clonabeg, Clonaslee, Co. Laois, & Portlaoise, & England. Passed away peacefully on the 10th of January 2025 in the loving care of the staff at St. Vincent’s Community Nursing Unit, Mountmellick. Predeceased by her beloved husband Jack & her infant baby girl Leonora. Tess will be very sadly missed & lovingly remembered by her children Clara & Martin, & her son-in-law Mark, her cherished grandchildren Kyra, Floyd, Ethan & Alessia, her sisters Margaret, Nance, Carmel, Bernadette & Geraldine & her brothers PV & Brendan, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Reposing at the Heritage Centre, Main St., Clonaslee, on Thursday the 16th of January from 11:30am – 1:30pm, with removal to St Manman’s Church, Clonaslee, arriving for 2pm Funeral Mass. A private cremation will take place at a later date.
