Success for Mountmellick Macra as they are set to represent Laois All-Ireland Capers final

Mountmellick Macra Capers 2025

Mountmellick Macras Capers team took to the stage to compete against five other teams to secure a place in the All Ireland final over the weekend.

And, following a fantastic performance, they prevailed to secure a final spot on February 1.

Capers is a 20 minute variety show featuring comedy, dance, poetry and often topical issues from the news.

The 14 strong cast opened the semi final in Graiguenamanagh, Kilkenny, with amazing energy setting the tone for the rest of the night.

Their show is titled ‘Un-laois’d: the Olympic Dream’ and the pieces in it reflect the title through sport comedy, poetry about achieving peace, instrumental pieces and much much more.

The Team compromises of: Nathan Flanagan, Aoife Oxley, Michéal Kilheeny, Alanah Conroy, Katelyn Dempsey, Ciara Hennessy, Sorcha Hartnett, Aoife Mallon, Kellie Fox, Zoe Dempsey, Niamh Feighery, Conan Kirwan, Sophie Ahern and Sue Le Blanc Meredith.

On the night, they also won best act for their performance of ‘The Impossible Dream’ song.

The show was produced by Colette Cashin and AC Reynolds. The choreographer was Louise Ahern while backstage was managed Chris Joyce, Joanne Teehan and Kevin Scott

Lighting was managed by Larry Ryan with Amy Strong on sound.

This variety show, although only 20 minutes, features 13 acts with super quick costume changes.

They now represent Laois in the All Ireland final on February 1 in Mountmellick Arts centre.

Six teams will compete in the final and an absolutely brilliant night of entertainment lies ahead.
