Course Content
The workshops will be held in a relaxed and an enjoyable setting.
Anyone who wants to write poetry is very welcome to apply.
The course will work on the art of writing poetry, what is inspiration, where does the idea of the poem begin, and the craft of writing the poem.
How does the writer put the chaos of the idea into words?
While there is no ‘correct’ way to write a poem, as poetry continues to change with our understanding of the world around us, there are approaches to writing poetry, rhyme – should it rhyme (?), rhythm, imagery, originality, authenticity and so on that we will discuss.
What is inspiration, is writing poetry an art form or a craft, or a bit of both?
All of these will be explored over the four weeks.
Dr Broomfield requests that each particpant bring ten typed copies of one of their poems.
The workshop costs €10 per session or €35 for the full four sessions (payable in advance) (concessions are available on request).
Booking is essential and fees are to be paid in advance, directly to the Laois County Council Cash Office.
