2024 Remembered: In Pictures: Great celebrations as Laois players and supporters enjoy Division 4 success

Laois v Leitrim Division 4 Final Main

The Laois footballers claimed the NFL Division 4 title in Croke Park in March.

There were great celebrations in Croke Park yesterday as the Laois footballers kick started the Easter weekend in style.

Justin McNulty’s charges proved far too strong for Andy Moran’s Leitrim – with a scintillating second half securing the win.

Laois led by four points at half time but kicked on massively in the second half to win by 14 in the end.

Leitrim defeated Laois in the regulation phase of the competition two weeks ago by a point in O’Moore Parl.

But the margin should’ve been far greater as they missed a host of goal chances and ran Laois ragged.

It was all change in Croke Park though as Ben Dempsey helped the Laois cause with a goal in the first half.

Leitrim narrowed the gap to two points in the 47th minute when keeper Nevin O’Donnell kicked his third score of the game.

But the Connacht side would not score again as Laois finished off the contest with goals from Eoin Lowry and Paul Kingston.

Photographer Paul Dargan was there on the day and captured some brilliant pictures.
