Ballyadams NS have fully reconfigured their second autism classroom and further doubled the size of the outdoor softplay area for both autism classes.
The school are completing their sensory courtyard project at present for classes in the school to enjoy and experience.
The sensory courtyard promises to be a haven and space of comfort for all children in every class and all school staff.
Ballyadams NS have also installed a new sensory garden and outdoor nest swing for all the children in the school to enjoy thanks to the exceptional support of the school community.
Principal Rory Stapleton says that the school are grateful to all who have helped them.
He said: “The Crannagh Water Group for their generous donation to the school, Manor Stone for donating the stone, Dunnes Garden Centre, Pat Whelan who generously gave his time to create the new sensory garden.
“The school are very appreciative of the support of parent Patrick Kelly Snr for donating and erecting our new sensory nest swing for all the children to enjoy.
“Also to parent Colin Campion for his expertise in making the bench in the courtyard and Esta for kindly donating the timber.
“The school is thankful to parent Tom Popple and his own organisation, ‘Be Impactful’ for his generous sponsorship of the sensory courtyard awning and further equipment to make the sensory courtyard project vision a reality for Ballyadams NS.
“Without the kindness and generosity of our school supporters these wonderful features and additions would not have been possible. Ní neart go cur le chéile!”
Meanwhile, the school also celebrated midday and evening Christmas carol services this week in Ballyadams Church.
All the children in the school performed a beautiful medley of carols and festive songs for many of our parents, families and the greater Ballyadams NS school community.
The children were truly outstanding, delivering two unforgettable performances.
Principal Rory Stapleton paid tribute to the talented pupils and the superb commitment and dedication of all the teachers and SNA’s who made the carol services such a special and memorable experience for all in the school community.
He said: “We wish all in our Ballyadams N.S school community a peaceful and relaxing Christmas break and every blessing to all in 2025.”
Finally, Ballyadams NS were delighted to welcome Robotics Coding Instructor and Laois County Council STEM Officer Seanie Morris to the senior classes this term to launch the STEM Vex Robotics Coding Project.
Students from 3rd to 6th Class are participating in a Robotics Coding Programme called Vex Robotics in the coming months which promises to be a wonderful learning experience and great fun.
Principal Stapleton said: “Thanks to Laois Broadband Officer Antoinette Brennan for supporting the school with this excellent programme and teachers Mrs Emma O’Flaherty and Mrs Breda Murray for facilitating this exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) programme in their classes.”
