Kathleen (Kitty) Butler (née Bates)
Timahoe, Laois

Kitty passed away peacefully in the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Vincent and her daughters Pauline and Brigid, her grandsons baby John, Gerard and Shane.

Sadly missed by her family, daughters Ann, Mary, Catherine, Rose and Sheila, sons William and Denis, son’s in law Gerard, Philip, Michael and Aidan, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sister Eileen and her cousin Maura, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May Kitty Rest In Peace.

Kitty will be reposing in Saint Michaels Church, Timahoe (R32 X880) on Friday from 4pm to 8pm with recital of the Rosary at 8pm.

Removal by Whelehan Funeral Director’s on Saturday morning from her daughter Mary Rafter’s residence to arrive at Saint Michaels Church Timahoe for 11 o clock Requiem Mass which can be viewed on the church webcam.

Interment to follow in Saint Michael’s cemetery, Timahoe.

Martin Mahony
Dereen, Durrow, Laois

Martin passed away peacefully on the 11th of December 2024 surrounded by his loving family in the excellent care of the matron and staff of Kilminchy Lodge nursing home Portlaoise​​.

Pre deceased by his loving wife Catherine (Kay) sister Joan brothers Jim and Larry. Deeply regretted by his loving sons Padraig, Francis(Frank) and Martin Jnr. Sister Maura, grandsons Callum, Ben and Alex, daughters-in-law, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces nephews, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Finbar Heneghan
Collies Lane, Portlaoise, Laois/Ballinrobe, Mayo

The death has occurred of Finbar Heneghan, Collier’s Lane, Portlaoise, Co. Laois (formerly of Bowgate Street, Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo).

Finbar passed away very peacefully in the care of Kilminchy Lodge Nursing Home, Portlaoise, on Tuesday morning, 10 December 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his mother Ellen, father Jack, brothers Fintan and Noel.

Finbar will be always cherished and dearly missed by his sisters Anne and Grace (Dublin), brothers Joe (Spain), Gerry (Australia) and Enda (Donegal), his sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, extended family, and all his friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Keegan’s Funeral Home, 1 Dublin Rd, Portlaoise on Thursday 12 December from 6 pm until 7.30 pm Funeral Mass will take place at St Peter and Paul Church, Portlaoise on Friday 13th December at 2pm. Private cremation will follow.

Family flowers only please and donations in lieu to The Irish Cancer Society. Finbar’s family appreciates your sympathy, support, kindness and understanding at this very difficult time.

Mary Maher (née Brady)
Lake Glade, Kilminchy, Portlaoise, Laois/Newbridge, Kildare

Mary Maher née Brady, Lake Glade, Kilminchy, Portlaoise, Co. Laois. Formerly Pairc Mhuire, Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Peacefully, 10th December 2024, at Lourdesville Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Wife of the late John. Sadly missed by her loving daughter Lindsey, son Jason, son in law Paul, daughter in law Anne, grandchildren Conor and Megan, brothers Billy and Jim, sisters Patricia and Margaret, brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at Glennons Funeral Home, 32 Main Street, Newbridge from 5pm on Thursday concluding with Rosary at 7pm. Removal on Friday morning to arrive at St. Conleth’s Parish Church, Newbridge for requiem mass at 11.30am. Cremation service afterwards in Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin at 1:45pm. Tony O’Kelly
Ballickmoyler, Carlow/Ballickmoyler, Laois

The death has occurred of Tony O’Kelly of Ballickmoyler, Carlow, Co. Laois- passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2024, under the excellent care of the nurses of The Barrow Ward, St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Beloved husband of the late Betty, much loved dad of Ray, cherished father-in-law of Clodagh and adoring grandad of Jude.

He will be sadly missed by his loving son, daughter-in-law, grandchild, sisters Peggy and Helen, nephew, nieces, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Carpenter Bros. Funeral Home, Maryborough Street, Graiguecullen (R93 ET80), on Wednesday, 11th December, from 5pm concluding with prayers at 7pm.

Removal from there on Thursday morning at 9.45am to St. Clare’s Church, Graiguecullen, arriving for Funeral Mass at 10am.
Burial afterwards in Arles cemetery.

Eileen McCarthy (née Doyle)
Birr, Offaly/Abbeyleix, Laois

Eileen McCarthy, (née Doyle) 19 High Street, Birr, Co. Offaly and formerly of Abbeyleix, Co. Laois, passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2024, aged 79, in the care of The Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband John, daughters Celine and Lorraine, sons-in-law Patrick, Paul and John and her daughter-in-law Margaret.

Deeply regretted by her loving sons and daughters; Michelle, John, Wayne, Helen, Geraldine, Tracey, Caroline, Brigid and Sandra, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great -grandchildren, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives , neighbours and friends.

Eileen was a lady, a wonderful mother and great friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Reposing at her home on Wednesday evening from 4pm. – 7pm.

Removal on Thursday morning at 10.15am. to arrive at St. Brendan’s Church, Birr at 10.45am. for Funeral Mass at 11am. followed by burial in Clonoghill Cemetery, Birr.

William (Billy) Keyes
Knockardgannon and formerly Monamondra, Errill, Laois

William (Billy) Keyes, Knockardgannon and formerly Monamondra, Errill, Co. Laois, December 9th. 2024, peacefully in the loving care of Management and staff at Droimnìn Nursing Home, Stradbally, Co. Laois.

Predeceased by his parents Patrick (Snr) and Mary, sisters Margaret Bergin, Annie Maher, Sr. Veronica (Kathleen) St. John of God, Mary Campion, brothers Paddy (Jnr) and Mick and his wife Breda.

Deeply regretted by his nieces and nephews Dermot, Patrick, Anne-Marie, Geraldine, Kathleen and Mary, his carer and wonderful neighbour of many years Martin Bergin, extended family, neighbours and a close circle of friends.

Reposing at O’Sullivans funeral home, Rathdowney (Eircode R32 NY24) on Wednesday evening December 11th. from 5.30 pausing for prayers at 7 o’clock. Removal on Thursday morning to Our Lady Queen of the Universe Church, Errill arriving for Requiem Mass at 11 o’clock. Interment afterwards in St. Kieran’s Cemetery, Errill.
