Mary Lou McDonald’s return visit to Laois has been postponed until next Wednesday, November 27.
The Sinn Féin leader had been due to visit Portlaoise for a major show of support for Maria McCormack.
Mary Lou was in Portlaoise three weeks ago to endorse Ms McCormack as Sinn Féin’s General Election candidate in Laois.
That event was held in the Killeshin Hotel, while the Party are holding a health care policy discussion today in the Midlands Park Hotel.
Deputy McDonald’s postponed visit to Laois is expected to follow the same schedule as had been planned for Thursday, 21.
The plan, as it stands, is for Mary Lou and Maria to begin the day’s proceedings in the National Learning Network on the Dublin Road.
Next is a planned event at St Mary’s Hall, originally scheduled to run from 10.30am to 12pm.
The Sinn Féin leader is poised to discuss the lack of sports facilities in the county and has chosen the heart of the issue in recent times as an appropriate venue.
Afterwards, Mary Lou and Maria were due to meet first-responders in Lyster Square with the day culminating with the pair taking a walk down Main Street.
