First of all, an apology.
We interviewed Ivan Yates last week as part of our General Election coverage only for us to fall victim to the curse of a corrupted audio file.
The recording of our interview became damaged and though the multi-talented Paul Dargan was able to rescue it to an extent, it was far from ideal. So for that, we apologise. A really good interview had to be chopped down and the audio we do have isn’t anywhere near where we’d like it to be.
But we have decided to use what we have nonetheless and can only ask for your patience on this occasion.
Co-presenter of the Path to Power podcast with Matt Cooper, Ivan is also doing individual constituency podcasts with Sean Defoe on Newstalk.
He brings us through his methodology for how he profiles each constituency and gives us his read on Laois.
We then also chat briefly about his varied career as a politician – he was a TD from 1981 to 2002 – as well as being a farmer, a book-maker and, in recent years, a broadcaster.
Again, apologies about the sound quality.
You can listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
