Ballyfin Players Winter production of the hilarious comedy ‘Wake in the West’ by MJ Ginnelly is coming to the Balcony Theatre, Mountmellick Arts Centre on Friday, November 22 and Saturday, 23.
The play is set on the West coast of Ireland during the Wake of Tom Healy who drank himself to death and now wishes his grave to be a watery one by requesting a cremation and the scattering of his ashes at sea.
The fun begins when a neighbour decides that Tom is not entitled to take it all with him.
This is the first theatre project of the newly reformed Ballyfin Players and their first time to perform in two years since ‘The Case,’ which was under the keen direction of Frances Harney.
Ballyfin Players reformed after a two-year break in March 2024 with some new and old faces.
The group is comprised of local people wanting to master or practice a new skill and who want to enjoy entertaining and meeting people.
The proceeds of the raffle from the two nights will go towards the Parents Association of Ballyfin National School for their Astro Turf development fund.
