11 local groups in Laois have been awarded almost €230,000 funding under the Community Centre Funding Programme.
This funding is designed to assist local groups, halls, community centres and associations with their various projects.
The successful projects are spread far and wide across the county with the 11 projects sharing a combined €229,213.
The breakdown of the funding is as follows:
€25,000 for Portarlington Community Centre to fund the renovation of toilets “to increase the functionality of the centre for the community.”
€25,000 for Timahoe Community Hall to fund the refurbishment of six toilets in the hall.
€24,950 for Killeshin AFC Community Clubhouse to fund works related to stairs, fire-approved doors, flooring and insulation.
€24,438 for Camross Community Association to fund maintenance to the roof and upgrade of the kitchen.
€23,564 for Rambling House Community Centre (care of Laois Friends) to fund damp proofing of walls, replacement of internal doors and windows, and internal painting in the centre.
€23,445 for Borris Innovation Centre Community Hub to fund repairs to the rear wall of the old chapel room of the Hub.
€22,370 for Shanahoe Community Hall to replace the fire exit, repairing the flooring, implement shelving and storage facilities, and add rubber matting.
€17,000 for Community Hall Vicarstown to fund the sanding and varnishing of the maple floor and reinstatement of line marking.
€16,713 for Killasmeestia Community Centre to fund the rewiring, ancillary works, the installation of water heaters, hand dryers, the replacement and upgrade of emergency lighting, and installation of an exterior door for the storage area of the community centre.
€15,733 for Rosenallis Community Centre to fund the repairing and varnishing of the hall floor and purchasing tables and chairs.
€11,000 for Barrowhouse Community Centre to fund the installation of solar panels, lighting and insulation.
