Caroline Nicholson Nee Doyle, 47 Kirwan Park, Mountmellick, Co. Laois died peacefully on 28th of October 2024 after an illness bravely borne in the presence of her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents John and Mary, her sister Jacqueline and her brother Brian.

Sadly missed by her loving sons, Patrick, Gearoid and Brendan, their partners Emma, Millisa and Áine, grandchildren Corey, Leon, Aaron and Laura, sisters Josephine, Kathleen and Michelle, brothers John, William and Avan, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and her many friends.

Carmel Clancy (née O’ Keeffe)
Fermoyle, Durrow, Laois

Late of Portlaoise Road, Abbeyleix. Passed away peacefully in her home after a short illness, bravely borne. Cherished wife of Eddie.

Adored Mother to Róisín, Deirdre and Bonnie and son-in-law Eddie (Rowe), precious grandsons Riain, Iarlaith, Rúan and Tom. Predeceased by her loving family Mick, Marie, Rose (Kealey), Mai,Paddy and Billy. Deeply regretted by her loving family John, Eddie, Teresa (Kelly) and Linda (Byrne), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing in the Chapel of Repose adjoining the Church of the Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix on Tuesday evening from 5pm. with prayers at 7.30 pm. Requiem Mass on Wednesday in the Church of the Most Holy Rosary Abbeyleix at 2pm. Interment afterwards in Ballyouskill Cemetery adjoining the Church of the Assumption.

House private. Family flowers only. Donations if desired to the Irish Cancer Society.

Patricia Caden (née Donnelly)
Farnans, Crettyard, Carlow/Crettyard, Laois

Patricia Caden, nee Donnelly, Farnans, Crettyard, Carlow, October 24th 2024 at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Beloved wife of the late Michael Vincent Caden who died November 1st 2023. Sadly missed by her heartbroken son Dennis, daughter Yvonne, sister Marie, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing in R. Healy & Son Funeral Home Pollerton Castle, Carlow on Tuesday (Oct 29th) from 4pm to 6pm. Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 2pm in St. Abban’s Church, Doonane. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Christy Culleton
Shracullen, Clonaslee, Laois

Died unexpectedly on the 27th of October 2024. May Christy’s Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.

Predeceased by his parents William and Mary, and siblings. Christy will be very sadly missed by his beloved brothers Michael and Seamus, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grand nephews, sisters-in law Carmel and Christina, relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Reposing at the Heritage Centre, Main St, Clonaslee, on Wednesday from 4pm-6:30pm, with removal to St Manman’s Church, Clonaslee, arriving for 7pm.

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11:30am in St. Manman’s Church, Clonaslee, with removal afterwards to Shannon Crematorium for cremation at 3pm.

Gregory Callaghan, Garrymore, Mountmellick Co. Laois and 8 Ashfield, Clonminch Road, Tullamore (R35Y4E4) Died October 26th.

Predeceased by his dear parents James and Bridie and his brothers John Joe, Seamie and his sister Kathleen.

Deeply regretted by his brother Brian (Clonaslee), sisters Nancy Dunn and Margaret Dunne (Galway), sister-in-law Mary, brothers-in-law Seamus, Jimmy and Joe, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and especially his support staff at Muiriosa Foundation and Rehab Care and his many friends.

Reposing in his home on Tuesday from 3pm untill Removal at 5.15 to St Mary’s Church Clonaghadoo arriving for 6pm. Requiem Mass Wednesday at 11am. Burial afterwards in St.Marys Cemetery.

Eugune Dunne, 13 Bayview, Mountmellick, Co. Laois died peacefully on 27th of October 2024 after a short illness, bravely borne in the presence of his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents Michael and Elizabeth.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Anita, his adored children, Alan, Kelley, Lynsey and Niki, daughter-in-law Sinead, sons-in-law Michael, Ryan and Seamus, grandfather to cherished Isabelle, Connor, Kate, Grace and Thomas, his brothers Joe, Brendan, Michael and Brian, sisters Ann, Marie,and Veronica, nephews, nieces, relatives,neighbours and his many friends.

Reposing in Moloneys Funeral Home, Mountmellick (R32 PC95) on Monday 28th of October from 5pm. Recital of the Rosary at 6.30pm. Removal on Tuesday morning to St. Joseph’s Church Mountmellick arriving for 11 O’Clock Requiem Mass.

Burial afterwards in St. Joseph’s Cemetery Mountmellick. Funeral mass can be viewed live on the parish webcam.

Eileen Scott, Acragar Farm, Mountmellick, Co. Laois and formerly of Gortavicary Co. Waterford died peacefully on 27th of October 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Former employee of St. Fintans Hospital Portlaoise. Deeply regretted by her loving children Joe, Terry, Jimmy, Marie, and Tommy. Daughters-in-law Joan, Trish and Joan. Her devoted grandchildren Jennifer, Yvonne, Avril, Gavin, Laura, Kelly, Louise, Gráinne, Kevin, Lauren, great-grandchildren Millie, Jamie, AJ and Cassie, relatives, neighbours and her many friends.

Recital of the Rosary at 6.30pm. Removal from her home on Wednesday morning at 11am arriving to St. Joseph’s Church Mountmellick for 11.30am Requiem Mass.

Josie McGill (née Murphy)
Clonboyne, Portlaoise, Laois, R32H3VX/Offaly

Josie McGill (nee Murphy) Clonboyne Portlaoise and late of Clareen Co. Offaly. 26th October 2024 Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Dearly loved wife to Barry and loving mother to Dermot and Mary.

Cherished grandmother to Frankie and Jodie. Sadly missed by her family and daughter in law Bríd. And great friend Noreen. Dear sister to Philomena, Brigid, Bernadette and Paddy. Predeceased by her brothers John, Michael, Kieran, Brendan, and sisters Mary , Veronica and Madge, and niece Margaret.

Deeply regretted by her loving family. Brothers in law, sisters in law, Nephew, nieces. All her former colleagues in St Fintans Hospital Portlaoise. May she rest in peace. Reposing at her residence (R32 H3VX) on Sunday evening from 6 pm with rosary at 8 pm.

On Monday reposing at her residence from 2 pm until 8 pm with rosary at 7.30 pm. On Tuesday, removal to St Fintans Church Ballyfin to arrive for 11 am Mass. Interment will follow in St Fintans Cemetery Ballyfin. House private on Tuesday morning please.

James (Shay) Cox
Portlaoise, Laois/Shankill, Dublin

Shay died suddenly, but peacefully, aged 67 years, on Wednesday 23rd October, 2024, following a short illness, in the kind and compassionate care of the Critical Care Unit at the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Son of the late James and Philomena Cox and much loved brother of Gerard, Paul, Patricia and Jean. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, close friends and his Sue Ryder community.

Reposing at Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue, Bray on Tuesday morning (Oct.29) from 10.00am, with a funeral service beginning at 11.00am, in the funeral home, followed by a committal ceremony at 12.45 in the Garden Chapel at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to Sue Ryder Ireland.
