Josie McGill (nee Murphy) Clonboyne Portlaoise and late of Clareen Co. Offaly. 26th October 2024 Peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Dearly loved wife to Barry and loving mother to Dermot and Mary.

Cherished grandmother to Frankie and Jodie. Sadly missed by her family and daughter in law Bríd. And great friend Noreen. Dear sister to Philomena, Brigid, Bernadette and Paddy. Predeceased by her brothers John, Michael, Kieran, Brendan, and sisters Mary , Veronica and Madge, and niece Margaret.

Deeply regretted by her loving family. Brothers in law, sisters in law, Nephew, nieces. All her former colleagues in St Fintans Hospital Portlaoise. May she rest in peace. Reposing at her residence (R32 H3VX) on Sunday evening from 6 pm with rosary at 8 pm.

On Monday reposing at her residence from 2 pm until 8 pm with rosary at 7.30 pm. On Tuesday , removal to St Fintans Church Ballyfin to arrive for 11 am Mass. Interment will follow in St Fintans Cemetery Ballyfin. House private on Tuesday morning please.

Helen Buggy
Court View, Stradbally/formerly Ballycoolan, Stradbally, Laois

The death has occurred of Helen Buggy (née McCormack), 5 Court View, Stradbally, Co. Laois and formerly Ballycoolan, Stradbally Laois. Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on the 25th of October at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

Predeceased by her husband Peter. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, daughters Olive, Julie and Brigid, son Noel, her adored grandchildren, sister Catherine and her cousin Maureen, daughter-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and her many friends.

Reposing at her home, 5 Court View, Stradbally, Laois from Sunday 27th October from 3pm with Recital of the Rosary at 8pm. Funeral Mass on Monday at 11am in the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally. Interment to follow in Oakvale Cemetery.

James (Shay) Cox
Portlaoise, Laois/Shankill, Dublin

Shay died suddenly, but peacefully, aged 67 years, on Wednesday 23rd October, 2024, following a short illness, in the kind and compassionate care of the Critical Care Unit at the Midland Regional Hospital, Portlaoise. Son of the late James and Philomena Cox and much loved brother of Gerard, Paul, Patricia and Jean. He will be sadly missed by his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, close friends and his Sue Ryder community.

Reposing at Colliers Funeral Home, Old Connaught Avenue, Bray on Tuesday morning (Oct.29) from 10.00am, with a funeral service beginning at 11.00am, in the funeral home, followed by a committal ceremony at 12.45 in the Garden Chapel at Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to Sue Ryder Ireland.

Michael (Chelsea Mick) Cavanagh
Glasnevin, Dublin/Borris-in-Ossory, Laois

Cavanagh(Glasnevin, Dublin 11 and formerly of Borris-in-Ossory, Co. Laois) October 23rd., 2024 (peacefully) in the loving care of the staff at St. Francis Hospice, Blanchardstown, Michael (Chelsea Mick), beloved husband of the late Susanne and dear brother of John, and the late Joseph, Jim and Brian; sadly missed by his loving brother, sister-in-law Karen, cousins, nieces, nephews, very good friend Matt, relatives and friends.

Removal on Monday afternoon (October 28th) to Glasnevin Crematorium for a celebration of Michael’s life at 2:20pm.

Mary Sinnott (née Loughlin)
Ballymeelish, Ballybrophy, Laois

Mary Sinnott (nee Loughlin), Ballymeelish, Ballybrophy, Co. Laois.

Died October 25th. 2024 peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents and sister Elenor..

Deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by her loving husband Tim, her family Jarlath, Brid, Catherine, Philomena, Aine, Sinead and Marie, sons in law,, grandchildren Sean, James, Roisin, Tony, Jack, Eoghan and Jonah, sisters, brothers, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing in Guilfoyle’s Funeral Home Castletown (EirCode R32 TN84), this Sunday evening (Oct. 27th.) from 6 o’c with prayers in the funeral home at 8 pm. Removal on Monday morning (Oct. 28th.) to arrive at The Church of the Assumption Killasmeestia for Funeral Mass at 11 am., with burial immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to Friends of Tullamore Hospital.

Bridget Kiernan (née Culleton)
Lea Road, Portarlington, Laois

Formerly of Tierhogar, Killenard County Laois. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family while in the wonderful care of the Nurses and Staff of St Brigid’s Hospital Shaen. Loving wife of the late Thomas and dear mother of the late Eithne (Hynan). Deeply regretted by her loving sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Maher’s Chapel of Rest Portarlington (eircode R32 X5XV) on Sunday evening from 4:30pm with Rosary at 7pm. Removal from her daughter Rosie Wright’s residence Tierhogar, Killenard on Monday morning at 10:30am arriving St John’s Church, Killenard for Requiem Mass at 11am. Interment afterwards in the adjoining Cemetery.

Brendan Coss
Wolftone Court, Mountmellick, Laois

Brendan Coss, Wolfe Tone Court and formerly Garoon, Mountmellick, died peacefully at The Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise, October 24th, 2024.

Beloved son of the late William and Christina.

Predeceased by his dear sisters Reena, Christina, Alice, Mary and Brideen, brothers John and Markey and sisters-in-law Marie and Bernadette brothers-in-law Patsy, Tommy, Frank and Pat.

Deeply regretted by his brothers Michael, Eddie, Peter (Galway) and Ray (Portarlington) sisters-in-law Maggie, Mary, Sadie, Tina and Teresa, nieces nephews, neighbours and his many friends.

Reposing in Moloneys Funeral Home, Mountmellick (R32 PC95) on Sunday 27th of October from 4.30pm.

Recital of the Rosary at 6pm.

Mary Mulhall (née Dowling) of 55 St Fiacc’s Terrace, Graiguecullen, Carlow, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on October 24th, 2024, under the loving care of the nurses and staff of The Sacred Heart Hospital, Carlow.

Beloved wife of the late Tom and cherished sister of Anna, Martha and the late Philly, Henry, Michael and baby Angela. She will be sadly missed by her loving sisters, nephews, nieces, relatives, good neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Carpenter Brothers Funeral Home, Graiguecullen., Carlow (Eircode R93 ET80) from 4pm on Friday, October 25th, concluding with Prayers at 8.30pm that evening. Reposing on Saturday from 12 Noon with removal at 1.45pm to St Clare’s Church, Graiguecullen, arriving for Funeral Mass at 2pm. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Carlow.

Tullaghanogue, Trim, Co. Meath and formerly Ballyfin, Co. Laois. 23rd October 2024. Peacefully at Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. Beloved husband of the late Sheila and father of the late Patrick. Loving father of Mary, Petula, Barbara and Seán. Much loved grandfather of Dean, Elizabeth and Jack. Deeply regretted by his family, son-in-law Larry, daughter-in-law Victoria, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Removal Friday evening to Saint Patrick’s Church, Trim for prayers at 7pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday at 11am, which can be viewed on https://mcn.live/camera/st-patricks-parish-trim.

Burial afterwards in Saint Loman’s cemetery.
