A Laois primary school has been approved for a new Special Educational Needs (SEN) classroom and two special education teaching rooms (for one-to-one teaching).
Minister for State at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Sean Fleming, confirmed the news in relation to Arles National School.
The works will include the reconfiguration of two existing rooms in the school (a classroom and a resource room) to allow for these new special education facilities.
Deputy Fleming said that it is ‘great news for Arles National School that this approval has now been granted’.
He said: “These new facilities will be high-quality and will meet the needs of the children with special educational needs that attend and will attend the school.
“I want to acknowledge the great work by the Principal, Board of Management, teaching and other staff, parents and the entire school community for their work on this project.
“I now look forward to the project progressing on the ground, so that it will be available for the children that require this facility as soon as possible.”
