All systems go as Castletown village gears up for ‘Fun Weekend’

The Castletown Village Fun Weekend is a much anticipated event that will bring together locals and visitors for a weekend of excitement and entertainment.

Held in the heart of the village in the Community Centre, the weekend is packed with activities for all ages.

This includes a spooky disco on Friday which is on between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.

There will be an art workshops on Saturday with Make Mosaic and a set dancing Céili with the Brian Boru Céili Band on Sunday.

While festivities will conclude with a Family Fun Day on the Bank Holiday Monday between 2pm and 5pm.

The Family Fun Day will include traditional games, live music and some family friendly competitions.

There will be local stalls, face painting, a scavenger hunt, arts and crafts and even some horse racing with a twist.

Sporting activities on the day include an obstacle course and hang tough competition for those who want test their skills.

There will also be the opportunity to relax and catch up with friends whilst enjoying some tea and cakes and listening to music.

There will be some lucky winners on the day with fabulous raffle prizes including a meal for two in Ballyfin House and Bramley’s Abbeyleix amongst many more.

The last event of the day is a light up wheel run where children can decorate/light up their scooters, bikes, go karts or tractors, whatever wheels they have, and do a lap of the community centre.

A spokesperson said: “The weekend fosters a strong sense of community.

“It provides a chance for everyone in the Castletown area and surrounds to come together, celebrate, create memories and above all have fun over the bank holiday weekend.”
