Laois native Adrian Kavanagh, a renowned political commentator and lecturer in NUI Maynooth, is set to write a political column for LaoisToday as part of our General Election coverage.
Though none of us know yet when that election will be, we are, to quote Tanáiste Micheal Martin “in a General Election cycle”.
From Raheen, Adrian is a lecturer in the Maynooth University Department of Geography.
His main research interests focus on the Geography of Elections, with particular reference to the Republic of Ireland.
He runs the excellent Adrian Kavanagh Elections website and is particularly active on Twitter/X. He has also contributed widely to a range of national media platforms and political programmes.
“We are delighted to have someone of Adrian’s experience and expertise on board and we know that he will add a different dimension to our election coverage,” said Steven Miller, owner and Managing Director of LaoisToday.
“A General Election is a hugely important event and we promise to provide a most comprehensive and high quality service to our audience on LaoisToday. Throughout the course of the campaign we will have a selection of content, in written, video and podcast format.”
Among the topics that Adrian will address in his columns across the coming weeks are:
- An overview of elections in Laois/Laois-Offaly since 1977
- The impact of the boundary changes
- Establishing trends from the voting patterns in the Local Elections
