The Laois JFC ‘A’ final between Kilcavan and St Joseph’s scheduled for this afternoon in O’Moore Park has been postponed due to the strong winds of Storm Ashley.
The decision was taken following consultation between the two clubs, Laois GAA officials and referee Brendan McCann.
It has been refixed for Monday evening in O’Moore Park at 7.30pm.
With the Intermediate hurling final replay between Mountmellick and Abbeyleix pencilled in for next Friday, it meant that next weekend was not an option given the crossover of dual players between Mountmellick and Kilcavan.
Kilcavan full-back Michael Bermingham is a key forward for the Mountmellick hurlers, for example.
Both St Joseph’s and Kilcavan have eased their way to this year’s decider.
Kilcavan have seen off The Rock, Camross, The Heath, Barrowhouse and O’Dempsey’s in the group phase followed by wins over Killeshin and The Rock in the knockout stage.
St Joseph’s lost to Graiguecullen in the group but were far too strong for Spink and Killeshin and then beat The Heath in the quarter-final and Graigeucullen in the semi-final.
